Frequently Asked Questions
  • I’d love to have reflexology but I have ticklish feet, does this matter?"
This is one of the most common questions that I get asked. Firstly, it is important to understand that Reflexology is not a gentle massage. It is involves alternating pressure being applied to reflex points and most clients who are concerned about having ticklish feet are able to relax and settle into the treatment without any problems. However, if we find an area that is too sensitive to touch on the feet, we can switch to hand reflexology in order for you to receive full treatment.
  • What should I wear?
It is recommended that you wear casual clothing that allows you to comfortably relax. Other than removing socks and shoes your clothes will remain untouched. After you have been reclined in a chair, you will be provided with pillows and blankets to ensure that you are comfortable and supported throughout the treatment.
  • How will I feel afterwards?
Unfortunately there is no single answer as everyone can react differently. However, most clients feel relaxed and calm and I often hear that they have slept well after a session. You may feel a bit ‘heady’ later on as though you are getting a cold but this will only last a short time and is a good indication that the treatment has had a positive effect and toxins are moving out of the body. I will give you some after-care advice to help maximise the treatment and suggestions as to how you might continue to work on any areas that have come to light.
  • What training have you undertaken?
I qualified as a Professional Reflexologist after gaining the Level 5 Centralia Reflexology Mastership through the Three Shires School of Reflexology. The Level 5 qualification is the highest level of reflexology training in the UK. All units in the course are specific to reflexology, focussing on detailed planning for specific conditions including palliative care, maternity care, fertility and subfertility care and stress management. My training has provided me with an excellent foundation to become a confident, knowledgeable and professional practitioner who is able to deliver effective treatments and adapt plans according to my client’s needs and priority. I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists and Professional Reflexology
  • How many sessions will I need?
Reflexology is personally tailored to you so whether you are looking for a ‘one off’ treat or a longer course of treatments we can discuss this during your consultation. Initially, I recommend 4-6 weekly sessions after which we will carry out a review and agree a plan going forward. If you have seen an improvement to your wellbeing we can move to a fortnightly or even monthly maintenance programme.
  • I’m pregnant – can I have reflexology?
Congratulations! Yes, reflexology can support your wellbeing throughout the different stages of pregnancy and in general can help you to feel calm and relaxed. Before starting treatment, it is good to let your midwife know that you are planning to have reflexology and we will complete a detailed consultation to ascertain your general health as well as where you are with your pregnancy.
  • How long do treatments last?
Treatments are approximately 45-60 minutes with the first being longer to account for the consultation.
  • How do you maintain and advance your knowledge?
Having worked in the Higher Education sector, I have always been committed to my Professional Development and in order to maintain my professional membership I need to complete CPD every year. This year I have completed Reflexology for Women's Health with Hagar Basis, Maternity Reflexology with Sally Earlem, Thermal Auricular Therapy, Crystal Healing and Meridian Pathways with Alexandra Clark and Finger Free Reflexology with David Wyate which has enriched my treatments and what I am able to offer to my clients. I am also a member of the Milton Keynes Association for Reflexologist Support Group who meet on a monthly basis to share wisdom, advice and expertise.
  • Can you diagnose what’s wrong with me?
No. As a reflexologist I am not able to diagnose or cure medical conditions. Your feet may indicate areas that are congested or out of balance within your body and we will be able to discuss what we find but if you have questions regarding a medical condition you should see your G.P.
  • Do you offer any other therapies?
Since discovering the amazing healing power of Reiki over five years ago, I have experienced much personal healing and spiritual growth in a short space of time. It was the desire to share these powerful tools and help other people that led me to become a practitioner, and spread the word about Reiki in Milton Keynes. • What should I expect at my first appointment?
I will ask you about your medical history, lifestyle, current health and some more general information so I can design a personalised treatment plan to best suit your needs. You will also be asked to sign a consent form. All information will be kept strictly confidential. A full treatment will be given after the consultation.
  • Will it hurt?
You should not feel any pain but you may experience some discomfort in areas that are out of balance or congested. The discomfort will only last a short time as I work sensitively to rebalance the reflex points. I encourage my clients to provide feedback during treatments so if you are concerned about the level of discomfort I can adapt my techniques to suit.
